Pho Bang New York

If you ever find yourself wandering through Montreal’s vibrant Chinatown and craving a taste of authentic Vietnamese cuisine, Pho Bang New York is the place to be. Tucked away at 1001 St Laurent Blvd, this humble spot doesn’t need to shout to be heard. The steady flow of locals and travelers speaks volumes about its reputation.

Right as you walk in, there’s a distinct feeling that this place isn’t trying to impress with flash-just pure, flavorful comfort. Pho Bang New York delivers the kind of Vietnamese fare that makes you feel at home, even if you’re halfway across the world. It’s cozy, casual, and refreshingly unpretentious, which makes it perfect for a quick bite, especially when you're in the mood for something warm, savory, and soul-soothing.

The star of the show? Their namesake pho, of course. Fragrant, steaming broth laced with herbs, tender slices of beef or chicken, and perfectly balanced noodles-it’s no wonder regulars keep coming back for more. But beyond pho, the menu is peppered with other Vietnamese staples, including refreshing vermicelli bowls and light, crispy spring rolls that hit the spot without weighing you down.

They’ve got takeaway for those on the go, but dining in lets you soak up the charm of a bustling Vietnamese eatery, complete with the soft clinking of chopsticks and the scent of star anise wafting from the kitchen. Need a little caffeine kick? Their Vietnamese coffee is robust and sweet, a delightful companion whether you're wrapping up your meal or just getting started.

Healthy options are scattered throughout the menu too, proving that comfort food and clean eating don’t have to be mutually exclusive. Whether you’re looking to sit down and savor or grab a hearty meal to-go, Pho Bang New York hits that sweet spot between flavor, speed, and authenticity.

Many people told me that good pho can be found here and I do like it. For a small sized woman small is good but not super filling, beef came with generous amount. The salt lemonade is pretty refreshing but for personal taste I wished it come with more lemon. One thing to notice is it’s a cash money restaurant, if you are a person like me who only bring a 5 dollar cash in wallet, there is a atm inside the restaurant but with extra transaction fee.

Delicious Pho and spring rolls. Had a small Pho Tai and it was the perfect size for me. The broth was light but so full of flavor, the sprouts and garnishes were super crisp. The lime was extra juicy. Everything was just so fresh and yummy. Perfect for a rainy day, will definitely be back

Overall a very good experience. I ordered the weekend special noodle and it was excellent. They gave me plenty of meat and it was very fresh! Wish they gave me more noodles but it's fine. I ordered extra portion so there is that. Service could be better here but as is the case in many Asian restaurants that are busy, YOU NEED TO BE LOUD!

The food is amazing! Huge portions for good prices! Just make sure you have cash, no cards accepted. Never been forced to tip. 1 star off for atmosphere as it can feel a bit crowded/claustrophobic, but I understand they want to maximize the space they have.

Pho Bang New York is hands down the best spot for authentic Vietnamese pho in Chinatown. As a loyal customer for the past three years, I can confidently say that their quality never wavers—every visit delivers the same delicious, consistent flavors that keep me coming back. One thing to note is that it's a cash-only establishment, but they do have an ATM inside for convenience (just be aware of the small service fee). Despite this minor inconvenience, the fantastic food and reliable experience make it well worth it. If you're looking for a no-frills, dependable pho spot in Chinatown, Pho Bang New York is the place to go!

I love this Pho place. The price is right, the portions are big and the service is one of the fastest in town. The pho is delicious and the spicy weekend special pho is even better. I almost never have to wait for a table. One of the best spots in Chinatown imo. They have been accommodating of my food restrictions, which I appreciate a lot. Please note they only take cash but they have an ATM next to the area where you go to pay.
